Dreams of Being
A downloadable Dream for Windows and macOS

I awake in a void of chaos.
In front of me is a book on a rock.
On the rock is a sigil.
I step forward.
Dreams of Being is an exploration through some scenes from my dream journal. My keeping of a dream journal was inspired by games such as Yume Nikki, LSD: Dream Emulator, and #21: The World, so I guess you could say that the game was too.
Wander around the set of worlds before you and if you're feeling adventurous, try to find all of the sigils. In 0.5 you may find yourself roaming with other entities. As of writing (4/27/2020) Dreams of Being multiplayer is offline until further notice. It's become unwieldy to host and I've recently found a better solution - migration to a new platform will happen at some point.
ALSO! This game uses files on your computer (such as images) as assets displayed in-game. They are in NO WAY shared over the network, they are used purely as a client-side display.

IF YOU'RE UPDATING, PLEASE READ
Every once and a while when I update the game, I need to alter how the save file is stored. If you have a save from an older version, and the new version gets stuck when you try to load it, please start a new game!

I got lost. I found every sigil other than the last one. Can you please give me a guide on the hardest, or, all sigils? Can't get the last one.
... or rather, how do I turn the color changer to be ONLINE?
Fantastic, i love the weirdness of it, this is just as good if not better than LSD dream emulator, yume nikki, and other famous things in the genre. Gorgeous exploration with weird meaningless areas with beautiful graphics and models and aesthetics in it. Its filled with everything you can wish from games like these and doesn't get boring. I will replay this again.

There's a new version that's been in development for a little while that makes the environments feel a little more interweaved but I likely won't get around to releasing it for a while still...

Is there any way to speedrun this game?
Uhhh I don't see why not. You'd just need to start a new game and get all the sigils. Timer would probably end upon clicking the final painting.

Hi there,
I'm working on a review that would include this game, and while I was really excited about the concept, there's a few issues I'm experiencing. If you have the time, I'd appreciate the input.
Firstly, even when I disabled itch's sandbox mode, the game doesen't seem to be accessing my image files, even though they're stored in default Windows 'pictures' folder. It also didn't use any bookmark URLs, and I don't suspect anti-virus protection is the issue. Should I try installing to a different location? Could you explain how/where the game gathers external files from? My permissions show that the game should have 'full control'.
Secondly, based on a video that I watched, there should be a sigil placed on the side of a certain speaker. For me, though, it's not appearing. Reading the update logs, it looks like it may have been moved... I respect if you're asked enough times already for hints, but I've found every sigil but one, and feel I've scoured pretty deep.

Wow! Really liked this one. From the minimal look to the meta-trippy conclusion, one of the more complete and quality indie games I've played in a while! You guys did great work, and I really liked all the references and things too.
